The Hidden Costs in our Food

Written by Grant Leishman | Apr 24, 2017 2:11:32 PM

It is so important that people have access to locally grown produce. However, what we see in society is a lack of emphasis on the subject as well as a lack of resources to gain access to local foods.

We've broken down the costs behind the food we consume, what we can do to overcome it, and how we can utilize greenwalls to help!

In an article by the United States Department of Agriculture, the "food dollar" is broken down and explained. Reviewing the image below, it is very clear to see the gap between the money going to the farmer and the money lost in the process on transport and other costs.

This is the financial impact, the impact on the environment, on our transport infrastructure and on the mass producing farmers to be ever cheaper is not even counted here.

Our goal is to make our easy to use, space and water efficient system, accessible to as many Urban Farmers, Community Gardens and Home Enthusiasts as we can so that everybody in and around our community can eat healthy, natural and organic produce that is grown in their local neighborhood.

Growing your own food is not just saving you costs, it is also helping the environment by reducing your carbon footprint. According to US Green Technology, trees and some plants even reduce noise pollution, naturally.

Noise reduction is just one benefit of our farms and gardens greenwalls. These versatile walls can provide all your food needs, whether that be in a home or restaurant, without the cost!
